Revision of Aims and Scope
Effective 01/07/2026, BIO Integration has updated its Aims and Scope statement. The revision clarifies the journal’s focus on integrated biomedical technologies and translational biomedicine while remaining consistent with the journal’s mission of advancing interdisciplinary biomedical innovation.
The revised statement provides greater specificity regarding the types of studies that are within scope and those that are generally outside scope, helping authors determine the suitability of submissions.
The journal’s commitment to rigorous peer review and high-quality translational biomedical research remains unchanged.

BIO Integration is an international journal focusing on translational biomedicine enabled by integrated biomedical technologies and systems-level approaches. Biomedical integration is defined as the convergence of biological, engineering, computational, and clinical approaches to understand disease mechanisms, develop therapeutic and diagnostic strategies, and accelerate their application in medicine. It also embraces a “bench-to-bedside-and-back” approach, in which biomedical and clinical challenges inspire scientific discovery, while research findings inform the development, validation, and implementation of new diagnostic, therapeutic, and biomedical technologies.
The aim of the journal is to provide a peer-reviewed forum for original research, authoritative reviews, and opinion papers addressing important issues in translational biomedicine. The scope of the journal encompasses the scientific principles and biomedical disciplines that underpin integrated biomedical innovation, including biomaterials and nanomedicine; biomedical imaging, artificial intelligence, and intelligent health technologies; regenerative medicine and rehabilitation engineering; and systems medicine and precision medicine.
BIO Integration is particularly interested in studies that integrate technological innovation, mechanistic insight, biomedical application, and translational potential. The journal welcomes work that advances disease diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, tissue repair, precision medicine, and translational healthcare, with the goal of improving patient outcomes and biomedical practice. Manuscripts that are primarily descriptive, lack clear translational relevance, or do not demonstrate a meaningful connection between scientific innovation and biomedical application are generally outside the scope of the journal. Similarly, computational or engineering studies without clear biomedical relevance or translational potential may also fall outside the journal’s scope.
BIO Integration welcomes the submission of original articles, review articles, mini reviews (research highlights), letters to the editor, editorials, editorial commentaries, perspectives/ opinions, case reports, technical notes, brief reports, news and views, commentary and research letters.
