Appointment of New Co-Editor-in-Chief for Bio Integration
Nearly five years since its establishment, Bio Integration (BIOI) is taking significant steps to strengthen its position as a leading academic journal in bio interdisciplinary research. As part of this effort, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Chaozong Liu, from University College London, as Co-Editor-in-Chief. He will play a pivotal role in driving the journal’s future growth and innovation.
Professor Liu is a distinguished expert in orthopaedic bioengineering and currently serves as a Non-clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Bioengineering at the Division of Surgery & Interventional Science, University College London (UCL), in association with the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. His research focuses on biomaterials translation for early intervention in musculoskeletal disorders, tissue repair, and regeneration.
With a prolific academic career, Professor Liu has authored over 280 publications, accumulating 6,500+ citations, and holds an h-index of 43. His work has been supported by major funding bodies including Versus Arthritis, Innovate UK, EPSRC, MRC, NIHR, and EU H2020. Notably, he has pioneered osteochondral scaffold technology, with significant potential for bone and cartilage regeneration.
Professor Liu’s appointment will support Bio Integration‘s commitment to high-quality scientifically sound content that meets the evolving needs of the bio integration academic community. The Journal’s mission remains on advancing cutting-edge research and fostering interdisciplinary research in biomedical engineering, biomaterials, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. His expertise and leadership will play a crucial role in pushing the boundaries in Bio Integration research through a rigorous and innovative approach.
